The first workshop and second project meeting of the "ETDTFA - Education and Training Development for the Treatment of Food Allergies Project", coordinated by Hungary Budapest Business School (BBS), was held by the Portuguese University of Portucalense (UPT) on 26-27th October 2023. From Istanbul Medeniyet University, Department of History of Science. Dr. Mustafa Yavuz, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Faculty Members Dr. Faculty Member Havvanur Yoldaş İlktaç and Dr. Faculty Member Burcu Aksoy Canyolu participated in the workshop and project meeting as project coordinators. Project partners, HoReCa sector managers and expert participants in the field attended the workshop hosted by UPT. At the workshop, HoRECa sector managers, experts and project partners were divided into working groups and discussed the challenges and solution suggestions regarding special requirements regarding food allergies in food and beverage services, and knowledge and experiences were shared. Following the workshop, a field trip was organized to the food and beverage services businesses of Ibersol Group-Portugal, and special production and service conditions for food allergens were observed and information was obtained. At the project partners meeting, the completed research results and reports on "National Legal Regulations and Good Practices in the Field of Food Allergies" were presented by project partner researchers. Differences between the legal framework of the European Union and the legislation of the project partner countries were evaluated and discussed, and examples of good practices in the field of food allergen management in businesses in the HoReCa sector were discussed.
The second workshop and project meeting of the project will be held in Istanbul on 2-3 May 2024, hosted by Istanbul Medeniyet University.
