The “Diabetes Dietetics and Current Approaches” Event Was Held

The event titled “Diabetes Dietetics in the Digital World and Current Approaches” was held, organized by the Nutrition and Dietetics Club of Istanbul Medeniyet University.

The event took place on December 19, 2025, between 12:00 and 13:30 at the Conference Hall of Istanbul Medeniyet University Cevizli Campus. The program addressed medical nutrition therapy in diabetes and dietetic practices in the digitalizing world. Nutrition and dietetics students, as well as faculty members, attended the event.

Within the scope of the event, Dr. Gülin Öztürk Özkan, a faculty member of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Istanbul Medeniyet University, emphasized that diabetes is a frequently encountered chronic disease and discussed the role of dietitians in medical nutrition therapy. She stated that the Mediterranean diet, due to its alignment with the principles of adequate and balanced nutrition, is an effective dietary model that can be preferred in diabetes management.

Following this, Dr. Zehra Margot Çelik, a faculty member at Marmara University and a board member of the Diabetes Dietetics Association, presented digital technologies that can be used at all stages of medical nutrition therapy in diabetes, based on scientific evidence. Çelik highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence and digital tools, particularly in monitoring nutrition plans, and emphasized the necessity for dietitians to closely follow the digitalizing world and adapt to emerging technologies.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session after the presentations.
